Not Really In Charge.

From Knight Ridder Washington Bureau:
WASHINGTON - One day after President Bush vowed to reduce America's dependence on Middle East oil by cutting imports from there 75 percent by 2025, his energy secretary and national economic adviser said Wednesday that the president didn't mean it literally.

It's not the man you put in office. I'm learning that in this day and age, a leader can't stand for specific change. I listen to references like "the white house reacted..." It confirms my suspicion that presidents these days are figureheads, not leaders. The president has to posture for something, while the actual people that do the work accomplish whatever it is they care about. Example
